I love Gerard. His realness positively impacted a lot of teens and even some of us geezers. My version of this is Gretchen Green GGG spy. I guess I should finish it up and publish 😂💚💚💚

@Glitterspray in my much younger years, we got to stand on stage when My Chemical Romance opened up for Social Distortion (one of my husbands faves)—they were just beginning to become famous. It was so much fun! Cannot believe how long ago it was! Time flies—my husband played in a band and one of my good friends from high school married the program director for our local ‘grunge alternative’ station at the time—we got backstage passes. Yes the days of being cool in my doc martins are long gone.

It was far more traumatic for me! My teen niece was buying their indie albums, seeing them every time they were in town, meeting them when they left their shows, talking to them, getting pics with them ... and MAKING me get into them. I knew everything about Frankie and Mikey and Ray and Bob and Gerard that anyone could want. Then she did a Grateful Dead thing. She went traveling around seeing every show she could. After a FL show she was out of money and took a greyhound to me. 👇🏼

She wasn’t a “groupie” in the traditional sense. She just loved them! THEN ... The Black Parade. I don’t know who paid for it all, but she came here so we could get up at 4 to drive 3 hours to Merryweather Post in case a line. Line started about 11 so we got to wait in it for about 5 hours. I sat on the hill while niece lost it up front. When the show ended at 12 we waited about two hours out back but they were in their bus and never came out or even acknowledged the couple dozen 👇🏼

diehards who’d been sitting there for hours. I can’t judge them. I was just extremely disappointed that niece never even got a wave. She was too. She’s never been big on them since then. And of course I had another three-hour drive to get us home. But I still like them 🙂

I really went on, but you’re one of the few MCR fans I know. So I knew you’d get it. I am a pretty good auntie, most of the time. Far better than I’d be as a parent. Every day for decades???? Oh hell naw! 😂
