Beautiful Bird Tuesday hosted by Susan Bird R. Thank you all for all your likes and inspiring comments, they are greatly appreciated. God bless you always.
Wow! Fabulous coloring, Aleja! It no doubt is in the nightjar group. The European nightjar (aka common goatsucker, Eurasian nightjar or nightjar), is active at twilight or at night and breeds across most of Eurasia. It has long wings, short legs, and a very short bill; its primary food is insects. Thank you for sharing this lovely nightjar and for joining the Beautiful Bird Challenge.

Aleja, thank you so much for identifying this bird! The New Caledonian owlet-nightjar, (aka enigmatic owlet-nightjar) is a large owlet-nightjar with vermiculated grey-brown and black plumage. It has a long, slightly rounded tail, short, rounded wings, and long, stout legs. This large owlet-nightjar is only known from two specimens taken in 1880 and 1915 and a small handful of sightings. Thank you again!!
