Happy belated New Years! I hope you are all happy and healthy, and had a wonderful holiday. And I hope that this year is a million times better than the last. Sorry I’ve fallen so far behind again. I’m training a new assistant and she’s obsessed with making sure my butt doesn’t collide with anything soft or comfortable. She’s 3 months old and very dedicated to her job. My son chose to name her Athena, goddess of wisdom and war. It’s almost like he had a premonition. She is scary smart

2 years agoShe rejected fetch after the second throw. She looked horrified when I threw the ball that she had just retrieved for me. I could almost hear her ask what the heck was wrong with me, and she’s refused to give me the ball since. But she lays down when she eats, so we must be soul mates. It’s currently hovering around -20, so playing outside has been temporarily suspended. Any ideas for indoor play that will keep a pup occupied? Her boredom is palpable. I really need a village right about now

Oh those indoor winter days with an active pup. Ok, at 10 yrs old ours still needs extra games to exercise her mind & body. Do you live in a house with stairs? They’re our #1 way to add fun & exercise. Toss toy down the stairs, toss toy up the stairs… repeat. Running up & down gives them great exercise indoors (Works best on carpeted stairs for safety) Also working on commands like “up” & “down” using the bed, couch, chair… to jump on & off. Good luck 🍀

2 years agoAnother game we play (you & son could do it) - we go to opposite end of the house, first one calls the dog. When she comes she gets as small treat. Then the other person calls & gives small treat. Keep repeating so dog is running back & forth. You can make it hide & seek as well. Treat her like a 2 yr old child and have fun. 😁
